By Plane

The closest airport is the Sacramento International Airport (SMF), about 30 minutes from campus. All major airlines offer flights into Sacramento. Taxi and ride sharing services are available from the airport to Davis.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) in the Bay Area are also options that some visitors might want to explore. There is Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) service from both of these airports to the Amtrak station in Richmond.

By Train

A regular Amtrak train service runs between the Bay Area and Sacramento. Details can be found on the Amtrak website.

Driving Directions to Davis

Via I-80 East (San Francisco Bay Area)

Take I-80 East
Take Exit 71 toward UC Davis / Robert and Margrit / Mondavi Center
Turn left onto Old Davis Road
At the traffic circle, continue straight to stay on Old Davis Road
Keep following Old Davis Road
Eventually turn to your right into Visitor Parking Lot 5

Via I-80 West (Sacramento Area)

Take I-80 West
Take Exit 72B for Richards Boulevard North toward Downtown
Merge onto Richards Boulevard
Richards Boulevard turns left and becomes 1st Street
Continue straight to stay on 1st Street
Turn left onto Old Davis Road
Continue straight past the first parking lot on your left
After the second intersection, turn to your left into Visitor Parking Lot 5

Via I-5 North (Valley Area)

Take I-5 North
Use the three right lanes to take Exit 518 for I-80 Business East toward San Francisco
Merge onto I-80 Business West
Merge onto I-80 West
Take Exit 72B for Richards Boulevard North toward Downtown
Merge onto Richards Boulevard
Richards Boulevard turns left and becomes 1st Street
Continue straight to stay on 1st Street
Turn left onto Old Davis Road
Continue straight past the first parking lot on your left
After the second intersection, turn to your left into Visitor Parking Lot 5

Via CA-99 North (Valley Area)

Take CA-99 North
Use the two right lanes to take Exit 298A for CA-99 West toward San Francisco / I-80 W / I-5
Merge onto CA-99 North / US-50 West
Continue onto I-80 Business West / US-50 West
Merge onto I-80 West
Take Exit 72B for Richards Boulevard North toward Downtown
Merge onto Richards Boulevard
Richards Boulevard turns left and becomes 1st Street
Continue straight to stay on 1st Street
Turn left onto Old Davis Road
Continue straight past the first parking lot on your left
After the second intersection, turn to your left into Visitor Parking Lot 5

Notes about Parking

Parking on the UC Davis campus after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends is free.  The directions above lead you to Visitor Parking Lot 5, which is relatively easy to find from the freeway and reasonably close to Hart Hall.  Please see this map to view Visitor Parking Lot 5's location (marked by the "P" in the circle).
